Hello, world
This is the first post on xowx.org, so a short note on what we mean by all of this.
Free forever means what it says. No paid tier waiting in the wings. No free trial that expires. No "open core" where the useful half costs money. When we say a tool is free, we mean it is free for everyone, indefinitely, including you.
That only works if the work is also open. You shouldn't have to take our word that a tool does what we claim — you should be able to read the code, run it yourself, and fork it if we ever let you down. Openness is how a promise like "free forever" stays honest after the people who made it have moved on.
What this is not: a startup, a product with a business model we haven't mentioned yet, or a donation drive dressed up as a mission. It's a foundation for building free alternatives to things that shouldn't have been paywalled in the first place.
That's the whole idea. The rest is just building.
